Technical Sales Representative

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Technical Sales Representative to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling their comprehensive stormwater solutions to clients in the distribution, municipal, government and construction industries. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional sales skills, and an understanding of stormwater management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities 
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, including engineers, architects, contractors, and municipal planners.
    • Achieve sales targets and contribute to the growth of the company’s market share 
    • Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and technical consultations to prospective clients.
    • Prepare and deliver accurate quotes, proposals, and tenders tailored to customer specifications.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Serve as the technical expert on stormwater products and solutions, providing guidance to customers on product selection and system design.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to stormwater management
    • Conduct site visits to assess customer needs, provide technical evaluations, and recommend appropriate solutions.
    • Work closely with internal engineering and product teams to ensure the successful design and specification of products to meet customer requirements.
  • Customer Support & Relationship Management:

    • Provide post-sales support to clients, ensuring timely delivery, installation, and troubleshooting as necessary.
    • Cultivate long-term relationships with clients to drive repeat business and referrals.
    • Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve any issues related to product performance, delivery, or other inquiries.
  • Market Intelligence:

    • Track competitor products, market trends, and customer feedback to continuously improve sales strategies.
    • Report on sales activities, market opportunities, and emerging trends to management.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 3-5 years of technical sales experience, preferably in stormwater management,  or a related construction/environmental industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of stormwater solutions, including stormwater runoff, water quality treatment, flood control, and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
  • Sales Skills: Proven track record in sales, with the ability to build and manage customer relationships and meet sales targets.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to design and recommend effective solutions for customers.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, conduct site assessments, and attend industry events.
