Project Manager MEP

This position is primarily responsible for commissioning and quality assurance of central equipment in high-rise residential or commercial buildings. The Project Manager will ensure that installation quality requirements are met by on-site mechanical and electrical trades during construction.

Working primarily on the construction site, you will ensure that trades follow specifications provided are followed and installation requirements are met.  You will also perform quality inspections after installation and communicate deficiencies. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
:
§ Verify and document installation quality and commissioning of large mechanical and electrical equipment
§ Coordinate with Project Manager’s and Field Manager’s prior to commencement of the project to confirm material availability, commissioning timelines, and hand-offs at the end of the project
§ Review and analyze system designs including mechanical drawings to communicate installation requirements to site trades
§ Conduct site visits to familiarize trades with the installation requirements, and where possible mark locations and orientations to guide the trades in installation
§ Prepare quality surveillance checklists, perform quality surveillance as per plan and report any deficiencies or discrepancies
§ Identify deficiencies and/or non-compliance with installation guidelines
§ Produce and deliver deficiency report to site project management
§ Review quality-related procedures and manuals of other departments and of suppliers and contractors for conformance to project QA program/plan requirements
§ Other duties as required to meet company objectives


REQUIREMENTS

§ Mechanical Engineering degree/diploma or related degree/diploma required OR 5+ years of mechanical engineering/construction related experience (
§ Minimum 3 years of work experience in construction including on construction sites, or within an engineering/design/commissioning environment
§ Technical knowledge and experience with large building mechanical systems and construction practices
§ Advanced MS Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
§ Excellent organizational and planning skills with prior experience in project management
§ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly with numerical analysis
§ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadline pressure
§ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate and coordinate with on-site trades and other personnel
§ Strong leadership skills; acting as a self-starter in achieving aggressive targets;
§ Strong team player that creates key partnerships between teams and collaborates easily with others;
§ Ability to analyze and synthesize information to solve issues and make sound decisions
§ Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations, Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA), EUSA rulebook and safe work procedures;
§ Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance with availability of personal vehicle to travel to work sites within the GTA.
