Our client is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to help drive a strong safety culture across multiple construction sites. Working closely with the HSE Supervisor, you'll play a vital role in ensuring every team member goes home safely each day while supporting exciting commercial construction projects.

What You'll Be Doing

As the HSE Coordinator, you'll be a trusted safety leader responsible for promoting best practices and ensuring compliance across active job sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, coordinating inspections, investigating work refusals, and liaising with the Ministry of Labour when required.
  • Conducting regular site inspections, monitoring compliance, following up on corrective actions, overseeing air quality, and helping maintain secure job sites.
  • Developing emergency response and evacuation plans, providing first aid when required, investigating incidents, and implementing preventative measures.
  • Delivering engaging site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training to ensure workers understand and follow safe work practices.
  • Managing permits, inspection reports, training records, qualification tracking, safety documentation, and compliance reporting.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is proactive, organized, and confident in promoting a culture where safety always comes first.

Qualifications:

  • NCSO designation or equivalent health and safety certification and experience.
  • Degree or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of health and safety experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario construction health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and positively influence safe behaviours.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
