Operations Manager - Rental Equipment, Construction

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our equipment rental business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing fleet availability, shop operations, logistics, staff performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency across all departments.

This role requires strong leadership skills, construction industry knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including rentals, dispatch, transportation, and equipment returns
  • Manage equipment utilization and fleet availability to maximize profitability
  • Lead and supervise operations staff, drivers, mechanics, yard personnel, and coordinators
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure equipment is rental-ready and compliant with safety standards
  • Monitor operational KPIs including utilization rates, downtime, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and improve operational processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Work closely with the sales team to support customer needs and business growth
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively
  • Manage inventory, yard organization, and transportation logistics
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning
  • Participate in hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of staff

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in equipment rental, construction, transportation, or related industries
  • Strong understanding of construction equipment and fleet operations
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with rental software systems and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the construction industry
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing heavy equipment fleets
  • Knowledge of dispatch and logistics coordination
  • Mechanical aptitude or shop operations experience
  • Experience with budgeting and operational reporting

  • Full-time
