Job Description:
Our client, a leading Mechanical Contractor is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HVAC & Plumbing Estimator specializing in HVAC and Plumbing to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of industry experience and a strong understanding of cost estimation for service, special projects, and construction. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and competitive pricing, supporting business growth, and maintaining their reputation for quality and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for goods, materials, equipment, labour, and subcontractors for service, special projects, and construction based on contract bids, schematic drawings, and specifications.
Analyze project drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
Maintain a database of unit costs, material pricing, and labour rates to support accurate and timely estimates.
Participate in prequalification processes, team meetings, and project handoff meetings to ensure clarity on scope and execution strategies.
Identify, analyze, and manage service and project scope changes, communicating adjustments effectively to internal teams and clients.
Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
Maintain organized records and correspondence on all pending, active, and completed estimates for future reference and auditing purposes.
Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure project execution aligns with estimated budgets and scopes.
Monitor market trends, pricing changes, and industry developments to maintain competitive and accurate estimating practices.
Contribute positively to the ongoing development and growth of mechanical contractor through process improvement, innovation, and teamwork.
Key Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating for HVAC and Plumbing.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction processes, and industry standards.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
