Outside Sales Rep

Montreal, Quebec

Compensation  Base $ 80 to 85K plus commission

Our client has an immediate opening for an Outside Sales Rep with experience selling Pipes/Valves/Fittings to a distribution network in Quebec and Ottawa. Sales are directed toward established PVF (Pipe, Valve and Fittings) distributors within the territory. Competitive base salary plus commissions. Company car and full benefit offerings make for a well-rounded total package for the right individual.


Responsibilities
  • Administer and develop sales in the assigned territory
  • Call product end users including wholesale distributors, promote new and existing product lines and develop a favorable specification position.
  • Engage consulting engineers to specify product and demonstrate features and benefits through product presentations.
  • 50% of the time will be working with mechanical contractors to push the product through distribution channels.
  • Provide full service to established distributor network including: quotes, product training, technical and literature support, product complaints, inventory maintenance and delivery issues.
  • Perform product training for end users and distributors to promote product benefits and improve specification position.
  • Develop cooperative relationships with key distributors and end-user personnel to enhance product demand.
  • Establish sales targets and specification targets to meet the company's sales budget.
  • Identify significant bidding opportunities and provide comprehensive project information including pricing strategy.
  • Provide after-sales service, including warranty and claims management.
  • Participate effectively in professional activities to promote products.
  • Continuously update the end user database for the territory.
  • Provide monthly report, sales forecast and market overview to Management
Required experience: 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of outside sales experience in the PVF industry or related field (construction, piping, etc.).
  • PVF experience appealing to wholesale level as well as head office 
  • Experience with mechanical and fire protection contractors will be an asset.
  • Requires strong analytical and cross-sector multi-tasking skills.
  • Intermediate computer experience with particular proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint programs.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Comfortable with public speaking engagements and the ability to present to large groups 
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in a business, engineering or communications related field, or a 3-year college degree is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude is an added advantage.
