Health & Safety Administrator

DESCRIPTION
 
As the Health & Safety Administrator you will work alongside the Health & Safety Coordinator as the designated health and safety representative responsible for promoting awareness, prevention, and training.  This position interprets health & safety legislation and makes recommendations to ensure compliance and due diligence by all employees and on-site personnel.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • General Administration
    • Ensure trades are submitting their daily and weekly paperwork. 
    • Manage inventory for health and safety supplies
    • Plan for heat and/or cold stress
    • Ensuring COVID-19 Management Plan is being implemented on site
    • Maintain and update training matrix  
    • Ensure trades are compliant.
    • Attend and participate in site JHSC meetings, prepare meeting agendas, record meeting minutes, and prepare for distribution as directed.
    • Ensure head count is updated daily.
    • Monitor modified duties.
    • Conduct weekly site inspections.  
    • Maintain and update Safety board, signage, posters etc.  
    • Inspect and maintain first aid kits.
    • Conduct Site specific orientations to all trades and visitors.
    • Track and monitor permits such as hot work, confined space entry etc.
    • Conduct weekly toolbox talks.
    • Ensure company rules are being followed and enforced. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree or Certificate in Health & Safety, or similar
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in similar role.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation in the Construction industry.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Must possess a vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel between the office and sites.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification and Working with Heights Certification is an asset
