Purchasing Manager

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Procurement Manager, Import and Commodity is responsible for the overall management and performance of a set of commodities and vendors to support the business.

Description
  • Meet and exceed assigned performance goals, including cost savings, working capital, and efficiency improvements in order to support department goals.
  • Perform strategic sourcing activities, including data collection and review, market and vendor evaluation, contract negotiation and execution, monitoring compliance and performance.
  • Conduct supplier proposal analysis, negotiations, awards, and implementations.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance and keep Operations abreast of potential supply chain risks. · Manage interactions between internal groups (Operations, Transportation, Materials Management, etc.) for efficient and timely ordering and delivery of goods and services.
  • Support teams in conducting negotiations with financial/bid analysis.
  • Attend conferences, forums, demonstrations and exhibits to maintain professional competence and to keep current with technical literature
  • Constantly sourcing and evaluating new innovative suppliers’ abilities and capacities within assigned commodities
  • Occasional travel domestically and internationally, may be required
        Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related fields
  • SCMP designation or equivalent is a strong asset
  • 7-10 years of experience in a procurement function, at least 5 years in strategic roles (sourcing, commodities, vendor managemen
  • Working knowledge of commodity management is a must
  • Proficient knowledge of contract negotiations
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Windows environment
